A-BUS Partners Introduce Bluetooth Technology

Sydney, NSW, AUSTRALIA, Wednesday, 25 September 2013 — LeisureTech announces the introduction of Bluetooth technology to A-BUS multi-room audio.   

Four A-BUS partners, Channel Vision, Eaton, Forté, and Russound, have introduced Bluetooth LIM (Local Input Module) to their product ranges. Bluetooth is a natural partner for A-BUS.

The amplifiers are located in each room unit, either as a keypad or incorporated in the speakers, instead of being centrally located as in traditional MRA systems. This unique feature allows A-BUS to provide a local source input in each room.

Now, with the high mobility of music libraries typically streaming from or stored on smartphones or tablets, an A-BUS LIM allows homeowners and their families to play their music content wirelessly in the room or area of their choice.

Andrew Goldfinch, inventor of A-BUS CAT5 technology, states, “The new Bluetooth LIM demonstrates how well the A-BUS format fits with new technologies. Music is now mobile; it is in everyone’s pocket. A local input is likely to become just as important as multi-source capability around the home. We also have a product that continues to demonstrate the elegant simplicity of A-BUS. The Bluetooth receiver receives its power from the CAT5 cable, eliminating the need to access power locally and the mess that ancillary products often produce. The LIM is simply spliced into the CAT5 line between the hub and the room unit. To operate is just as simple. When paired, the Bluetooth LIM automatically overrides the audio source from the central hub.”

The announcement of the new Bluetooth LIM (Local Input Module) by four A-BUS partners Channel Vision, Eaton, Forté, and Russound generated significant interest in Denver.

Andrew Goldfinch, President of LeisureTech Electronics, says, “On the surface the Bluetooth LIM is a simple A-BUS component; however, when integrators in Denver had an opportunity to see how it fits in with today’s market and new technologies, they saw it as a market changer.”

With music now being so accessible, and music libraries stored in smartphones and tablets, local source capability is going to become a “must-have” feature in MRA systems of the future, in much the same way multi-source access was a decade ago. Regrettably, for most systems with centralized amplification, this feature is not easy to incorporate. However, for A-BUS, it is very simple.

A-BUS has always offered a hard-wired local input module (RCA LIM), which has been used to provide a local source such as a TV, computer, or gaming device in a bedroom or any desired room. Now, A-BUS’s Bluetooth LIM provides a wireless option that connects directly to your personal music library or streaming device.

Another A-BUS advantage that makes the Bluetooth LIM so special is the availability of power down the line, which supplies power to the amplified device, either a keypad or speaker. This eliminates the need to provide a messy local power source for the Bluetooth receiver. The power for the Bluetooth LIM and/or the RCA LIM is available anywhere in the Cat5 wiring.

The time to install the A-BUS Bluetooth LIM is minimal and economical. It is simply spliced into the Cat5 line between the hub and the amplified device. And because of the A-BUS product standard, it can be retrofitted into any A-BUS system regardless of age or brand. It is A-BUS simple.

LeisureTech Electronics Pty Ltd (A-BUS) Appoints New Manager of Technical Services and Product Development

LEISURETECH has announced the immediate appointment of Brian Johnson, joining LEISURETECH, a global OEM technology provider, A-BUS Licensor, and OEM manufacturer for the residential systems market.

Andrew Goldfinch, Managing Director and inventor of A-BUS CAT5 technology said: “Brian is a highly qualified electrical engineer with extensive experience in product development and manufacturing, he has also received two Duke of Edinburgh Awards for Industrial Design. “

Brian will also be conducting a review of the A-BUS Standard to introduce new protocols for system control via new technologies.” This is a key strategic move which will result in new A-BUS technologies and products that are highly relevant to the current and future generation of multi-room products and new developments that incorporate modern content delivery, wireless technologies, smartphone and Pad control. This initiative will include the introduction of new digital amplification into A-BUS system products. The agenda will include the upgrading of the Forte’ product range with new concepts and IP integration to expand its global sales.

Andrew said, “Brian takes over from Len Andrews, who is going into full retirement after 27 years with the company. It has been a great partnership. We have achieved many significant goals together.”

Brian Johnson adds, “I have always been fascinated by how well A-BUS CAT5 technology has worked in the marketplace. Its simplicity is a much-needed commodity in a field that often confuses. A-BUS is ideally situated to integrate with new IP-based technologies to make MRA easier to install and easier to operate.“ 

Among Brian Johnson’s many achievements are:

• Managed and directed the mechanical and electronic design of gaming equipment for TABs and gaming equipment manufacturers. This included earning one of his two Duke of Edinburgh awards for industrial design of high-speed optical scanning equipment.
• Electronic designs relating to aeronautic navigation aids.

• Developed ISO 9001 compliance processes for mechanical and electronic equipment manufacturing.
